Safari Adventures

Drive-Through Experience: The crown jewel of Lion Country Safari is the 4-mile drive-through preserve where zebras, rhinos, giraffes, and antelopes roam freely around (and sometimes across!) your vehicle.

The safari drive takes about 40-60 minutes, depending on how many photos you stop to take. And trust me, you’ll want plenty!

Animal Encounters: Watch in awe as herds of zebras (the largest population in the country!) create the only traffic jam you’ll ever enjoy.

The rhinos are magnificent to behold, especially during feeding time when they gather near the road.

While the lions are kept in separate enclosures for safety, seeing these majestic creatures lounging just feet from your car is absolutely breathtaking.

Best Time to Visit: Consider driving through twice if time allows.

The afternoon drive (around 4:30 pm) may offer even better animal viewing than morning visits.

Animals are often more active later in the day, and you might catch special moments like the rhinos being herded in for the night.

Audio Guide: The park provides a QR code for an audio tour that enhances your drive with fascinating facts about the animals you’re seeing.

Just note that Verizon service doesn’t work well in the park, but T-Mobile users have good coverage.

Walk-Through Park Highlights

Giraffe Feeding: After your safari adventure, park your car and head to the walk-through section where feeding the giraffes is always a popular activity.

Even your kids can participate by offering romaine lettuce to these gentle giants.

Bird Encounters: The bird experiences are surprisingly delightful. The Lorikeet feeding allows these colorful birds to fly right up to you, creating enchanting interactions that kids love.

Water Play Areas: The park features an impressive water area with three different sections suitable for various ages.

From slides to splash pads to a water playground, it’s the perfect way to cool off after your safari adventure.

Included Attractions: Your admission covers much more than just animal viewing. Because all the amusement rides are included in your ticket price too.

There’s also a charming 10-minute pontoon boat ride where you can spot monkeys and birds, and even free paddle boats for a relaxing water experience.

Atmosphere & Décor

Natural Landscapes: The park is beautifully maintained with lush vegetation throughout. The walk-through area features picturesque waterfalls and scenic backdrops that make for priceless photo opportunities.

Clean Facilities: The entire park is clean and well-maintained and really feels comfortable everywhere.

Manageable Size: Despite offering so many activities, the park is designed to be walkable and not overwhelming.

It’s spacious enough to avoid feeling crowded but compact enough to enjoy in a single day.

Cooling Features: Thoughtful design elements like water misters placed throughout the park help keep visitors comfortable even on hot Florida days.

Other Considerations

Pricing: At around $50-55 per adult (with some discounts bringing it down to $31), Lion Country Safari is a bit pricey compared with a typical zoo. But you do get a very different experience here.

You can easily spend 4-5 hours or a full day here so whether the price is worthwhile might be up to you!

Food Options: The park offers a cafeteria with an assortment of simple treats such as the popular Dole Whip.

If you prefer to save money, you’re welcome to bring your own food and drinks, as there are picnic tables available. Or you can grab a bite nearby after you’re done for the day.

Parking & Access: Unlike many attractions, Lion Country Safari offers free parking. The park is rarely overcrowded, with no lines and fast, convenient entry—even without advance tickets.

When Windows Go Up: One important safety note is that you must keep your car windows up during the drive-through safari portion. This is for both your safety and the animals’ wellbeing.
